Skydive

To celebrate what should of been my Dads 61st Birthday, I decided to skydive in Hibaldstow.

A 15,000 tandem leap, the highest in the UK, free falling the first 9,000 feet at terminal velocity, then, parachuting down to earth.

Getting strapped in to the equipment was fine, and really health and safety vigorous.

I was the last to leap, and as we headed towards the door of the plane I suddenly felt very unsure. I was then edged out, and had to bend my legs under the plane, try and hook my hands into the straps of my harness, tilt my head back into my partner and try to create a banana shape with my body.

I couldn’t seem to hook my hands in properly, and I was painfully aware that I was not sat on a solid surface. I tilted my head back and we were gone!

I saw the earth spinning towards me, and swore loudly, then I laughed, and couldn’t stop laughing, it was phenomenal! I was hurtling towards the earth and it was stunning and freeing, and I knew my Dad would love it.

My partner tapped my shoulders so that I could let go of my harness, he then made breaststroke swimming motions, which made us spin in the air, which just made me laugh harder. My mouthwash dry from yelling and laughing.

At 6,000 feet my parachute opened, and we flew back up into the air. My partner took me through a few twists and turns before handing me the controls, and letting me spin the parachute, I felt my legs kick out and the spin was incredible.

My partner took the controls back, and guided us down to earth whilst showing me the villages, the River Humber, Cleethorpes. It was vast and beautiful.

We did a slide landing, and my face hurt from smiling so much.skydive 222
